PJ Davis, owner of PJ’s BAR-B-Q in Saratoga Springs, NY, grew up in the Buffalo, NY area. As a kid, PJ was always listening to local radio DJs playing pop tunes from the era. Not only did he love the music, but he was also fascinated with the DJs when “personality radio” was big.
“I was always listening to a radio, either a transistor or table model. I’d listen walking down the street, riding my bike or in the back seat of the family car.”
A few years ago, PJ began Dee Jaying at the restaurant in the evening, entertaining guests with music from the 50’s and early 60’s. His stage name is Johnny “Be” Goode and he is available to entertain groups as a mobile DJ. Call Johnny at 1-877-JBGoode - 1-877-524-6633 for more information.
Johnny “Be” Goode officially became an ‘on air’ personality on local station WABY, 1160 am, where he hosted a radio show this past fall.
The music he plays is the music he grew up with- as did 76 million other baby boomers! In addition to the "Top 40" songs of that time, Johnny plays Doo Wop and "obscure" Rockabilly. The artists he features include Elvis Presley, Fats Domino, Connie Francis, Little Richard, Chuck Berry, The Five Satins, Jerry Lee Lewis, Brenda Lee, Jack Scott, Buddy Holly, The Flamingos, Carl Perkins, Dion and the Belmonts, Bobby Darin, Big Joe Turner, Ricky Nelson, Roy Orbison, Wanda Jackson and Conway Twitty.
As he says, he likes to play the songs ... ”gone from the charts, but not our hearts!”
